AUSSIE CASSITERITE CRYSTAL

A great little rock of Greisen with Aussie Cassiterite Crystals.   Featuring small, terminated crystals that appear somewhat translucent.  A rarer find for a metal specimen in Australia, this one was collected in the 1970’s.  Ideal for the rockhound with an eye for the unusual and collectors of Australian metal specimens.  These don’t come around often so don’t miss out on this one.

Cassiterite: SnO2

The main ore of Tin.  Important in ancient times as today, as Tin with Copper makes the alloy Bronze.  A very important metal widely used.  The Bronze Age was from approximately 3000BC – 1000BC, starting earlier in China and Greece than other areas.  It was superseded by the Iron Age.
