Terminated Aussie Tourmaline Crystal! Beautiful and rare, this is old stock. We were very lucky to come across such a beautiful piece. It is really one large crystal with several other crystals clustered around the base. Mica and Feldspar cover parts of the exterior. Well terminated, good size with some translucency. A superb specimen for the Aussie Minerals collector.

There are many unique properties of Tourmalines. First, they are piezoelectric which means that when a crystal is heated or compressed or vibrated a different electrical charge will form at opposite ends of the crystal (an electrical potential). Conversely if an electrical potential is applied to the crystal, it will vibrate. Secondly they are pleochroic which means that the crystal will look darker in color when viewed down the long axis of the crystal than when viewed from the side. This property goes beyond the idea that the crystal is just thicker in that direction. Even equally dimensioned crystals will demonstrate this trait.

An awesome Pink Tourmaline Quartz 3. This chunk of Quartz is full of deep pink Tourmaline crystals. The pink and white are a great contrast. This is a sturdy specimen and a good hand sized rock. It is extra quality Tourmaline and a very collectable piece for the mineral and crystal enthusiast. This specimen is predominantly Pink Tourmaline with very little Quartz.

BUSTAMITE SPECIMEN
This is an unusually nice Bustamite Specimen featuring many quite gemmy crystals poking out of the Galena matrix. There are also some nice dark Garnet crystals apparent. Bustamite is quite a bit rarer than the Rhodonite more often found with the Galena from this location. The colour and shape of the crystals in this matrix are also above average.
