Beryl is one of the most important gem minerals. Beryl is colorless in pure form; it is the many different impurities that give beryl its varied coloration. Without these splendid color varieties, beryl would be a rather ordinary gemstone with only average fire and brilliance. Emerald is the green variety and Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl.   Other varieties are Heliodor (yellow), Morganite (pink) and Goshenite (clear).

The location has a story too.  Triple Chance Mine is so named for the feldspar, muscovite and beryl minerals found in pegmatite, at the mine.  The large yellowish beryl crystals reached over a metre in length and were apparently used as a source of Beryllium metal for the NASA Apollo Space Program.
