An ancient Fossil Baculite.  These are super popular and affordable.  Suitable for kids as they aren’t too fragile (for a fossil) and a great way to start or boost your own collection.  An amazing natural fossil from eons past.  Baculites, genus of extinct Cephalopods (animals related to the modern squid, octopus, and nautilus) found as fossils in Late Cretaceous marine rocks (formed from 99.6 million to 65.5 million years ago).  One pic with long wave UV light shows some fluorescence.  This specimen has been mounted on a perspex pad for enhanced display.  You can see calcified dendritic formations clearly.
