Cassiterite: SnO2

The main ore of Tin.  Important in ancient times as today, as Tin with Copper makes the alloy Bronze.  A very important metal widely used.  The Bronze Age was from approximately 3000BC – 1000BC, starting earlier in China and Greece than other areas.  It was superseded by the Iron Age.
