RED RUBY SPECIMEN 10
This crystal is a beautiful natural Red Ruby Specimen 10 in white matrix. Great deep colour and an excellent specimen with natural crystal formation from this location. Under magnification with a 10x there are many interesting inclusions on the matrix including metals like Pyrite. One of the pics taken under long wave UVA light showing extreme fluorescence. Just one of the interesting features of this mineral.

Ruby’s are Red and all other Corundum are Sapphires. The name is from Sanskrit “kuruvinda” meaning Ruby. A rare sapphire is a Padparadscha which is a pinky peach colour, found in Sri Lanka. Ruby is the second hardest natural mineral. The Element Chromium is what causes the Red colour in Ruby. The best shade of red for a Ruby is Pigeon Blood Red. Ruby can be any shade of red up to almost pink. They are the most amazing Gemstone and in my mind way better than Blood Diamonds.

An incredible SPHALERITE GALENA MINERAL SPECIMEN with Micro Quartz Crystals matrix. Many terminated crystals clustered together make for an oresome collectable piece. This specimen would grace any collection and is from one of the premier locations for this mineral. A super piece, hard to capture in pics. The Galena Crystals have formed partial Cubic shape with the corners missing forming a Cuboctahedron or Octacube. Crystals inside the crevice look amazing under a loop.

A broken Pyrite Sun Large. This is a natural formation of Pyrite and something quite different to the usual more cubic looking varieties. Striations radiate out from the centre. Our Suns are hand selected at the source for their excellent quality. We are well known for our metals range and have pyrite specimens showing cubic, orbicular and octahedral crystals, as well as these suns. Pyrite (“fools gold”) is popular with all age groups. A great piece for the collector of unusual pieces. This Pyrite Sun comes with a perspex stand for display and looks even better in person. Unfortunately this one was broken in the post but it is very large and would still be good as a display specimen for the collection. Could be used for making jewellery.

Very cool stuff and this is one of my very favorite rocks. This rock has Phosphorescent Willemite and red Zincite.

Willemite Fluorescent Franklin 010. This specimen is short and long wave fluorescent. Dark grey metal shown in the natural light photos is Zinc ore Franklinite. The white mineral is Mangano Calcite which shows BIP Brief Intense Phosphorescence. Pics taken with shortwave, longwave, and sunlight. Very cool stuff and this is one of our favourite rocks. This particular rock has some green Willemite which is intensely fluorescent with filtered Longwave and Shortwave Torches.
