ZIRCON CRYSTAL
Zircon Crystal. Also known as a Zircon Bomb, for their habit of being fired out of volcanoes and landing like one. This is a great specimen, with gemmy red brown crystal. Slight Fluorescence, yellow under UVC light. One angle looks like the bent pyramid.
A super collectors specimen and rare. Showing the classic Spinel Crystal form and classic location too.
Dimensions:
3.1cm x 2.6cm x 2.7cm, 45g.
Location:
Mud Tank, Northern Territory, Australia.
Zirconium Silicate:
ZrSiO4.
Zircons reputation has suffered of late due to the introduction of a diamond simulant. So for the record, zircon is not the same material as the artificial gem material Cubic Zirconia (or CZ). Zircon can make a very attractive and affordable gemstone. Zircon is the December Birthstone.
