NATIVE GOLD
NATIVE GOLD
A great little specimen of Native Gold in a box with a magnifying lid. The gold is perched on top of the quartz matrix. It’s a really nice little crystal and great example of native gold in quartz. Gold is a noble metal and a native metal. The former for it’s resistance to corrosion and the latter as it has a single element, symbol Au. Gold and humans go way back, for better and for worse. A cute little specimen like this would grace any collection. Another beaut Aussie rock!

IRON METEORITE NAMIBIA
IRON METEORITE NAMIBIA
The real deal Star Dust or Space Rock, Iron Meteorite Namibia. This specimen originally came from outer space and landed in Namibia. The Gibeon meteorite shower is the 6th largest in total mass known at present. The criss cross pattern shown on the cut face is referred to as Widmanstatten Pattern and is one way of knowing that you have a real Meteorite.
Natural iron is not necessarily “native” to Earth since it rarely occurs on the Earth’s surface by terrestrial processes. It is mostly found in the form of meteorites that have impacted the Earth’s surface. A few rare terrestrial gabbros and sulfide deposits do contain elemental iron-nickel deposits, these are the only truly native iron-nickel. All natural iron, whether it is native or meteoritic, is actually an alloy of iron and nickel. The two elements are combined in varying percentages from less than 6% nickel to as much as 75% nickel, although iron is by far more common than nickel.

METEORITE
A large chunky Meteorite from Campo del Cielo, Argentina. Who doesn’t love meteorites?! Amazing little chunks of metal from space. It is now known that humans were using these treasures well before the Iron Age. This is a Nickel Iron rough octahedrite meteorite, classification IAB. There is much information available from this particular meteorite fall. It was re-discovered by the Spanish in the 1500’s and is believed to have fallen to earth over Argentina between 4000 and 6000 years ago. Several craters were created in the process. Many large specimens from this event grace museums around the world.

CHALCOPYRITE CRYSTAL CLUSTER
CHALCOPYRITE CRYSTAL CLUSTER
A beautiful bright Chalcopyrite Crystal Cluster. This Chalcopyrite Crystal Cluster had to be removed from our shop as too many customers couldn’t help them selves and kept touching it. Eventually all metals will tarnish if people keep touching them and they will loose their shiny brightness. This is the best we have seen for a solid cluster of Chalcopyrite worthy of museum grade or serious collection. This Chalcopyrite is very shiny and reflective. Chalcopyrite is Pyrite with Copper which gives it a more realistic look of gold. A great chunky specimen which has taken millions of years for nature to produce. This specimen is mounted on a perspex pad for enhanced display.
